Full Description

Details

The Intel Ethernet Server Adapter I350 family builds on Intel's history of excellence in Ethernet products. Built with the bridgeless Intel Ethernet Controller I350, these adapters represent the next step in the Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) networking evolution for the enterprise and data center by introducing new levels of performance through industry-leading enhancements for both virtualized and iSCSI Unified Networking environments.

  • Halogen-free Gigabit Ethernet adapters
  • Innovative power management features including Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) and DMA Coalescing for increased efficiency and reduced power consumption
  • Flexible I/O virtualization for port partitioning and quality of service (QoS) of up to 32 virtual ports
  • Scalable iSCSI performance delivering cost-effective SAN connectivity
  • High-performing bridgeless design supporting PCI Express Gen 2.1 5GT/s
  • Reliable and proven Gigabit Ethernet technology
  • Flexible I/O virtualization
The Intel Ethernet Server Adapter I350 family includes Intel Virtualization Technology for connectivity (Intel VT-c) to deliver I/O virtualization and Quality of Service (QoS) features designed directly into the controller on the adapter. I/O virtualization advances network connectivity models used in today's servers to more efficient models by providing Flexible Port Partitioning (FPP), multiple Rx/Tx queues, and on-controller QoS functionality that can be used in both virtual and non-virtual server deployments. With FPP, virtual controllers can be used by the Linux host directly and/or assigned to virtual machines. With this port partitioning, administrators can create up to eight dedicated connections on a single Ethernet port for use in bare-metal and virtualized server deployments.
  • Scalable iSCSI performance
An Intel Ethernet Server Adapter I350 with native iSCSI initiators built into Microsoft Windows, Linux, and VMware ESX platforms provides a simple, dependable, cost-effective way to connect to iSCSI SANs. These native initiators are broadly tested using multiple generations of operating systems, storage systems, and OS tools to help ensure reliability and ease of use. Standardizing on Intel Ethernet Adapters for iSCSI enables administrators to use a single initiator, TCP/IP stack, and a common set of management tools and IT policies. In addition, Intel Ethernet Server Adapters include a number of hardware features designed to accelerate iSCSI traffic and enhance data processing. For example, TCP segmentation offload and checksum offload capabilities help reduce processor usage, increase throughput, and deliver exceptional iSCSI performance.
  • Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE)
The Intel Ethernet Server Adapter I350 family supports the IEEE802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) standard so that, during periods of low network activity, EEE reduces the power consumption of an Ethernet connection by negotiating with a compliant EEE switch port to transition to a low power idle (LPI) state. This reduces the controller power to approximately 50% of its normal operating power, saving power on the network port and the switch port. As soon as increased network traffic is detected, the controller and the switch quickly come back to full power to handle the increased network traffic. EEE is supported for both 1000BASE-T and 100BASE-TX.
  • DMA Coalescing
Another power management technology that can reduce power on the server platform is DMA Coalescing (DMAC). Typically, when a packet arrives at a server, DMA calls are made to transfer the packet within the server. These calls wake up the processor, memory and other system components from a lower power state in order to perform the tasks required to handle the incoming packet. Based on the configurable DMAC settings, incoming packets are buffered momentarily before any DMA calls are made. This enables the controller to intelligently identify opportunities to batch multiple packets together so that when components are wakened from lower power states they can efficiently handle the batched packets at the same time. This enables platform components to remain in lower power states longer, which can dramatically reduce platform energy consumption. DMAC synchronizes DMA calls across all controller ports to ensure maximum power savings.

Are we out on price?

We check our prices daily against a wide range of competitors to try to bring you the best deal. However, if you've spotted a better price offered by one of our competitors, please let us know and we'll do our very best to match it.

Is the advertised price & availability genuine?

The IT sector is littered with companies who don't hold stock. Their websites advertise products that are sourced from third party suppliers. Pricing and availability data on such sites is typically retrieved from files or feeds which are often not refreshed regularly enough. The result? Cancelled orders, long lead times and disgruntled customers.

King of Servers is a major stockholder with full transparency into our stockholding and pricing. Our website is refreshed on a 15-minute cycle 24/7 so the pricing and availability you see online is both accurate and reliable.

We recommend you double check a cheaper price elsewhere is accurate and based on physical stock that can be shipped immediately before placing your order.

Do they really have the product in stock?

We show true stock counts on our website, not woolly messages like ‘in stock' or ‘available to order'. Stock levels are updated every 15 minutes 24/7 so you can see exactly how many units we have sat in our warehouse available for immediate despatch.

And speaking of shipping, did you know we offer same day deliveries? You can choose this or other timed services during checkout on our website or contact our sales team for a quote. Handy when you need the goods in a hurry!

Do they specify product condition?

Most web stores fail to specify the stock condition of the products they advertise for sale. It seems reasonable to assume that all products are brand new, unused units supplied in the sealed, original manufacturer packaging and protected by the full warranty but this isn't always the case.

A heavily discounted price can be a sign that the product in question may be a used or refurbished unit. Open/damaged box and ‘ex demo' units are also rife in the marketplace and warranty cover on such goods will be variable so it's wise to check what you're getting before committing to any purchase.

King of Servers displays the product condition on all our product pages. As well as detailing what the condition means, we specify the level of warranty condition allowing you to make an informed buying decision.

Ensure you compare like for like when shopping around for prices online.

Is the product covered by warranty?

All brand new products come with a full manufacturer warranty, right? Not always; it depends where the products were sourced from. You may have heard of the grey market or parallel imports? Manufacturers often stipulate the geographical regions in which their products are designated for sale. Unscrupulous suppliers seek to source goods from outside of these regions at cheaper costs which they pass on via cheaper prices. The downside is that the manufacturer might not honour the warranty in the event of a support call. Grey kit does not qualify for warranty support and if it fails, you could be significantly out of pocket.

All products offered for sale at King of Servers are sourced from legitimate channels and are covered by warranty. For added peace of mind, we can supply serial numbers up front which can be validated on the manufacturer's website to ensure warranty cover is in place prior to purchase.

Ask any potential supplier if they can supply serial numbers ahead of purchase. Any legitimate stockholder who has sourced the goods from the proper channels should be able and happy to do so.

Is the competitor trustworthy?

Look beyond the price and establish whether the company behind the product is a bona fide organisation that you can return to should you encounter issues down the line. This is particularly important if you've never heard of them before. It's relatively easy to set up a web shop nowadays which makes it difficult to differentiate between a one-man band operating out of a home office and a well-established, reputable bricks and mortar business. Sales T&Cs, returns policy and aftercare service are probably important areas for you to consider.
