Hard drive carrier trays (sometimes called drive cages, enclosures, bay adapters or caddies) are cases that fit around a hard drive enabling it to interface with a server or computer. Typically made from metal or plastic, they usually contain separate sockets for power and data transfer. Hard drive caddies make it easier to swap out or remove hard drives for security and data protection peruposes but require a power supply to operate.
Other storage adapters include bay adapters, interface converters, controller cards and storage dock products. When shopping for a storage adapter, be sure to check the specifications of both the storage product you intend to use it with and the device you're planning to adapt your storage product for to ensure compatibility.
